The Sledding Trip 2010

Today, we got back from a great sledding trip!

So, yesterday (February 26), Brother Spencer, Brother Jackson, Brother Kukuk, Dallin, Rick, Jeff, Ryan, Jaren, Kyle Worley, Tay, Dewlin, and I met at the church at 3:30 PM. Our newest deacon, Grant Carver also came.

The only problem was, well, it was raining. Pretty hard.

We hauled our bags and sleds in the back of Brother Jackson's truck, covered everything with a tarp, and then we hopped in and drove off. Brother Spencer, Brother Kukuk, Jaren, Kyle, Dallin, Dewlin, Grant, and I hopped into Brother Spencer's car and Rick, Ryan, and Tay hopped into Brother Jackson's truck.

Along the way, we played Sweet and Sour. In case if you don't know, Sweet and Sour is a game where you wave to people and if they smile, wave, or do anything friendly, they're sweet. If they stare at you, they're sour.

We had some sweets:

And some sours:

When we drove through the town Tracy, we saw a huge rainbow in the sky!

After constant driving, we got to our "campsite" over in Copperopolis.

It was actually a house Brother Jackson 's job let us use.

We hauled all our bags into the house and then Patrol 1 was in charge of making dinner, so they started making burritos for dinner.

So, Alec and Jeremy had Showbiz (a performing group) and Brandon had to go to his school in Oakland, but they got to ride up in Brother Wilhelmsen's car later on, so they got to the house about an hour after us.

When dinner was ready, we all sat in the Living Room and ate and hung out for a while.

After dinner, we changed into our swim shorts and walked to the pool. Well, first we got into the hot tub. The pool was just too cold.

Some of us would jump into the freezing pool, then hurry back into the hot tub. I also found a frog swimming in the pool. Brandon had one of those big net thingys, and he scooped the frog onto the ground.

Jeremy told me to flash the frog with my camera, so I did. That stunned the frog and let Jeremy toss it into the grass.

After a while, we went into the gym and used the weight machines and treadmills.

After being in the gym, we walked back to the house. We got stuck outside the house because the key card wouldn't work. Brother Jackson had to go around to the back to get into the house, and then unlock the door for us.

Once we got inside (and changed back out of our swim shorts), we had brownies and ice cream and set up to go to sleep.

After a spiritual moment given by Brother Wilhelmsen, we went to sleep. At least some of us did. Some of us were talking to Rick (he was talking in his sleep). We didn't go to sleep until later on.

The next morning, we woke up, packed our bags, and Patrol 2 made breakfast. Since there were so many of us, Jeremy heated up 50 pieces of bacon!

We then ate breakfast, got ready for sledding, and then hauled our bags and sleds into the truck.

The drive up was a good time to catch up on sleeping!

We then drove out of Copperopolis...

...and 55 miles up the mountains...

...to Spicer Sno Park.

We sledded down some small hills until we figured out where we planned to go sledding. Then we took a small walk to where the better hills were. They were great because no one had stepped on the snow yet.

The snow was really deep though. My whole leg fell straight through!

We dug out a pretty good run!

Although, I did get the largest wipe-out! I was trying to lay on my stomach, but I couldn't make it in time, so I flung off my knees and landed face-first in the snow!

Our leaders dug a bigger run where you would speed down the hill and fly off a large jump and fall straight into the soft snow.

While we rode down that run, Brother Kukuk dug out another run. It was more like a track, and had a jump in in the middle!

Also, Brother Spencer, Alec, and Tay made a huge snowball!

After riding down this run, we had a major snowball fight. Brother Kukuk kept blind sighting us (sneaking up and tackling us down). Grant and I made humongous snowballs. Jeremy and Dallin started tackling each other.

After our snowball fight, we went back to the car, loaded the sleds in the truck, and then ate lunch in the car while we drove back home.

On the way home, Jaren had to go to the bathroom, so we stopped at a gas station back in Copperopolis. Our shoes were wet from sledding, so we walked inside without shoes.

Jaren was taking a while in the bathroom, and Brother Kukuk really had to go, and no one was in the Women's bathroom, so, well, you get the idea! It was pretty tricky, since some ladies started to wait in line outside the bathroom.

After our quick stop, we drove straight back to the church, where we all claimed our bags and went home.

It was a pretty easy camp out. Or what Brother Kukuk called it, "a cream puff camp out"!
